WISSA 2015 [video]

this is a sweet drone video highlighting the WISSA 2015, the World Ice and Snow Sailing Championship, that was last week in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.

today’s tunes: Avett Brothers

this song, despite a strange title of “Murder in the City”, has a couple of my favorite song lyrics:

A tear fell from my father’s eye
I wondered what my dad would say
He said, “I love you and I’m proud of you both,
In so many different ways”

Always remember there was nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name
Always remember there was nothing worth sharing
Like the love that let us share our name

Lotawana on Ice [video]

this is a stunning video showing off iceboat sailing on Lake Lotawana, as well as some other winter fun out on some beautiful ice – including ice skating, ice hockey, even driving a 4-wheeler around on the ice.  the video work is superb, with a beautiful soundtrack in the background as well.

load this up in HD and watch in full screen if you can!

an evening mountain bike ride [video]

and now for something completely different…

earlier this spring I bought a new mountain bike, and have been trying to add that in to my life’s rotation.  the bike trails are very easy to get to from our house, and the loop around the nearby lake is a short 4-mile route. I usually ride one or two loops – nothing crazy.  most of the route is on paved bike trails or large shoulders along the road, but there is a part that you can detour off into a gravel drive that winds through the woods, with several small footpaths that wander even further into, and along, the woods.

a few nights ago, I rode a loop around the lake with my 13-yr old son, and when we stopped at home, he went back inside, I grabbed my GoPro camera and took off for another loop.  it was getting into the lower light of evening, and the video I captured on the trails in the woods was pretty wild.  enjoy.

dances with wolffs [video]

and now for something completely different (but related to my line of work in structural engineering & construction):

this is an amazing time-lapse video created by an architectural photographer of several Wolff tower cranes working on construction at Berlin’s Leipziger Platz.

load it up in HD and watch full screen – it is very well done.
