chasing bubbles [sailing documentary]

if you’re like most of us right now – stuck at home in some type of “stay in place” or “shelter in place” due to the corona virus pandemic, here’s a sailing documentary that you might check out:

the true story of “the worst sailor to ever sail around the world.”

for more information, you can check out the “Chasing Bubbles” website:

if you just want to check out the preview first to see if it looks interesting, here is the official trailer:

I’ve not watched the full documentary yet, but will try to in the next couple days.

mistaken for strangers

………….and now for something completely different…………

this is a trailer for an upcoming documentary from one of my favorite bands, The National.

In 2010, The National embarked on the biggest tour of their career… Lead singer Matt Berninger invited his younger brother, Tom, to join the tour’s crew.

Tom’s at sea in the world of indie rock, and living in his brother’s shadow brings out the younger sibling in him – he drinks, complains, and struggles to balance his ambition with his tour responsibilities.

A cinematic juxtaposition that locks comedy and stoicism together on a tour bus, Mistaken for Strangers delivers an entertaining story of family, music and artistic aspiration.

I’m definitely looking forward to their new album and this documentary.

unsalted: a Great Lakes surfing documentary [video]

here is a pretty sweet 3 minute teaser for a documentary about surfing on the Great Lakes.

HT: saw this at Reef Warrior’s gift guide.  you can buy the full DVD of the Unsalted documentary on Amazon.

sense the wind – a blind sailing documentary

this is a neat trailer for a documentary being produced by Christine Knowlton about blind sailors.

Blind sailors race across open water, learning not to fear what they cannot see – on boats or on land. They compete despite risk, trusting an image of the racecourse in the mind’s eye. Yet life is as unpredictable as the wind. One gains something far different than a trophy, and must learn to live and sail with a new sensibility.

you can learn more about the project at it’s website: sense the wind or at the Facebook page.
