sailing with my boys

Thursday at camp seemed promising for our last chance to sail. all morning, I could feel a bit of a breeze as I walked around camp to the various morning activities. after lunch and watching son #2 play in a 3-on-3 soccer tournament, we headed down to the beach to try sailing. I rigged the Minifish up and set off my oldest son in the Mini. I had my 9-yr old join me in the Sunfish.

the wind must’ve been playing tricks on us, though, because it was very light and shifty out in the water. my oldest son in the Minifish just laid right down in the cockpit and drifted along.

we sailed around a bit, and I let my 9 1/2 yr old son man the controls of the Sunfish. after a bit, I had the boys switch, so my 9 1/2 yr old could sail the Minifish for the 1st time.

despite the lack of a steady breeze, it sure was a lot of fun sailing on the gorgeous waters of Lake Michigan… for the 1st time sailing WITH my boys instead of just giving them rides on my boat.

Love the shot riding the swell! Water looks great up there. 🙂 We hope to do this with our kids someday, when we have them!
