for those in peril on the sea

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm has bound the restless wave,
Who bade the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep:
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea.

A moving hymn that brings me back to a poignant memory from 2006 when a freighter foundered in a storm off our shores here in Kashima, Japan.

Interestingly, I posted the same hymn back then as it best expressed our feelings. Over the following months I communicated with families of the crew, mostly from India, as their sole contact in Japan. This song and the memory of the loss of the ship Giant Step still touches a chord deep within me.

Thanks for posting these beautiful lyrics.
