sailing & fear

I can’t say as I’ve ever experienced a fear like this, as most of my sailing has been on smaller inland Michigan lakes.  sailing out of sight of shore on one of the Great Lakes on a small dinghy like a Sunfish is probably not the wisest decision anyway, as conditions on the Great Lakes can change very rapidly!

Does any one know where the love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?

The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy.

Your one fish and two are bones to be chewed
When the gales of November come early.

A fine Flemish, indeed, and an example of the coil’s versatility.

Handy for line stowage and a lovely seasonal decoration, too.

Once, at the islands about ten years ago, we had some conditions and circumstances…. I won’t disclose anything about either other than my searing memory recalls that the feeling deep in my soul (stomach), was “What am I doing here?” Unforgettable.
