talk like a pirate day!

this Sunday, September 19th, is “Talk Like a Pirate Day“!

so shiver me timbers, and blow me down!  use yer pirate keyboard, and navigate the stormy internet seas to stop on by the official website for all kinds of pirate goodies – name generators, “how-to” advice, pirate pick-up lines – it is chock full of good stuff.

for more pirate-themed fun from some of the water/sailing blogs I like to visit:

enjoy the day, arrrrr!

for my oldest son’s 9-yr birthday party this spring, my wife planned an elaborate pirate-themed party: a few of his close friends came over for the evening to spend the night, there was a treasure map, an insane obstacle course down in the basement and cork cannons constructed out of PVC pipe (those were my 2 contributions to the party planning), and a pirate ship fashioned from cardboard boxes for the boys to put their sleeping bags in to spend the night.  and what pirate party would be complete without a treasure chest loaded down with booty!

and, a birthday cake topped with pirate-themed Legos (all 3 boys LOVE Legos – even our 2-yr old!):

here’s the birthday boy:

and one of his younger brothers (complete with fake earring and black-marker goatee!):

this does happen to be one of my favorite silly holidays, and I’m a little disappointed that I won’t be at work to enjoy talking pirate with my co-workers (the scurvy wharf rats…!).  it would totally make my day if my pastor started his sermon on Sunday morning in pirate talk, though!

arrrgggggh.

I thought the exact same thing about work/church.

I felt the same about not being able to talk like a Pirate at work but alas…

Thanks for the link and I wish you a scurvy, Pirate-filled day!
