recycled sails Sunfish screenprint

batten creative has put together a pretty sweet idea to recycle used sails.

I’ve taken my love of sailing, art, and the environment to a new level by turning used sails into prints. As old One-Design sailboat sails started to pile up in my garage I began experimenting with the idea of printing my art work on them. Each poster design I designed in Illustrator and screen printed myself. Each is hand signed and numbered.

they currently have shown on their Etsy page prints for Lasers, Sunfish, Optimist, Lightning, Farr 40, J24, and E-Scow sailboats.  I would imagine that more sailboat design will become available (and maybe even by request?).

here’s my personal favorite – the Sunfish.  blue and yellow aren’t my favorite color combination – maybe I could get it customized with a different color combination.  the Etsy shop also mentions that you can get the screen-printing customized with personal sail numbers if you want, or even with the screen-printing done on your own used sailcloth.

these look like a great option to recycle old, used sails, and produce a pretty awesome wall decoration to display in your home, cottage, or lake house.  or they would make a great gift for the sailor in your life.
