hey Joe! here’s another couple vintage ads for that AMF Hilu sailboat with the outrigger.
it looks like it shares similar parts to the Sunfish (and probably several of the other models offered by AMF/Alcort). the sail area is 65 square feet so probably the same sail as the Minifish, and slightly smaller than the Sunfish sail at 75 square feet. more information and additional pictures can be found at this site: AMF Hilu.
thanks again to blackbelair for posting the brochures and specifications over at the Yahoo Sunfish Sailor Group.

It’s funny how many sailboats have gone to fiberglass heaven. Thanks for the photos.
There’s one member of the ‘Fish family missing here and that would be the Catfish. It looked like it was a one-piece molded construction. A google image search will provide a brochure of this neat catamaran.
Fred, thanks for the comment. I hard started looking for it on the Yahoo Sunfish Sailor Group the other day, but that site can be tedious if you’re looking for something!
Thanks for posting the Hilu pics. I have had a lot of fun on mine in Florida. had it since early 70 s. great in the surf but pitches a lot. Still have it. regards john
rumor has it that they sold so poorly, that a number were given to the US Navy and used for target practice
ward, that’s pretty interesting. seems like a strange shape/object to use for target practice, though!
